Software for diagnostic labs and hospitals

In short

Berri is a new technology company in India that builds software for diagnostic labs and hospitals. It can let patients ask on WhatsApp whether a report is ready, track samples from collection to result, and alert staff when a fridge or analyser reading drifts. Patient data carries legal duties, and Berri reviews them with each client first.

What breaks every day

Patients and doctors call the front desk all day asking whether a report is ready. Staff check the lab system, call back, and the queue at the counter grows.

Samples picked up from homes and collection centres change hands several times before they reach the analyser. When one is delayed or lost, nobody can say where it was last seen or how long it sat at room temperature.

Reagent fridges, blood bank storage and vaccine coolers are checked by hand on a paper log, often once or twice a shift. A failure overnight is found in the morning. Bed status in a hospital is known by phoning each ward.

What a first version could do in two weeks

A first version could be a WhatsApp assistant that tells a patient whether their report is ready and sends the secure link when it is, without staff checking by hand.

Alongside it, a sample board showing each sample's last handover and the time since, and temperature sensors on key fridges that alert the duty person on WhatsApp when a reading leaves the safe range.

These are proposals. What can be connected depends on your lab or hospital system and its vendor, and we will tell you clearly in week 1 what is possible.

How Berri works with you

Health records are personal and sensitive data, and handling them carries legal duties. In week 1 we review with you what data a tool may see, where it is stored and who can access it, alongside listening to your front desk and lab staff, and then give you a fixed price in writing.

Usually in week 2 a first version runs on agreed data. Then we run it, fix what breaks and train your staff. The data stays yours and can be exported at any time.

Who it is not for

If you need a full laboratory or hospital information system, buy it from a vendor that specialises in one. Berri connects to it, it does not replace it.

Berri does not build tools that diagnose, interpret results or give medical advice. Anything clinical stays with your doctors and pathologists.

Common questions

How can patients check if their lab report is ready on WhatsApp?

A WhatsApp assistant can check the report status in your lab system and reply when a patient asks, then share the report through a secure link once it is signed off. This takes repeat calls off the front desk. Berri builds assistants like this. Because reports are sensitive data with legal duties, we agree with you first exactly what the assistant may share and with whom.

How do I track home collection samples until they reach the lab?

Record each handover, from the collector to the centre to the courier to the lab, with a time and a scan or tap on a phone. A board then shows where every sample was last seen and flags ones that have been waiting too long. Berri can build this as a first version and add temperature readings from the carry boxes where your devices allow.

Can I get an alert when a lab fridge or vaccine cooler gets too warm?

Yes. A temperature sensor in each fridge can send readings continuously and alert the duty person on WhatsApp the moment a reading goes outside the range you set, day or night. Berri runs sensor integration like this in production inside a logistics business. We first check whether your existing sensors can share data, so you may not need new hardware.

Is it safe to use software and AI with patient data in India?

It can be, if it is done with care. Patient data is personal and sensitive, and it carries legal duties on how it is collected, stored and shared. Berri reviews these duties with each client before building, keeps the data in your control and limits any AI to narrow tasks, such as answering report status, never interpreting results.

Will this replace my laboratory or hospital information system?

No. Berri reads from the system you already use, where your vendor allows it, and builds what it does not offer, such as WhatsApp status replies, sample tracking or equipment alerts. Your data stays yours and can be exported at any time. If your vendor does not allow access, we will tell you in the first week rather than promise around it.
