In trial
A security checkup for your domain, email, backups and access
In short
Berri offers security checkups for small businesses in India, currently as a trial. A security checkup is a review of your website domain, business email, backups and who has access to your systems and data. You get a plain list of what is at risk and what to fix first, explained without jargon.
The problem it solves
Small businesses rarely think about security until something goes wrong. An old employee still has the email password, nobody knows who controls the website domain, or the only copy of the customer list sits on one laptop.
These gaps are common and usually simple to fix, but only if someone looks. Rules on personal data are also getting stricter: most duties under India's data protection rules apply from about May 2027, according to a summary published by Mondaq.
What you get
You get a review of four things: your domain (the web address you own), your business email, your backups, and who has access to your systems and files.
You then get a plain list of what we found, ranked by what to fix first, with clear steps. Where you want help making the fixes, we can do that too.
This is offered as a trial. Berri has done this work for its own group of businesses, and will be open with you that client checkups are new.
How it works with Berri, week by week
Week 1 is for listening. We sit with the people who will use the security checkup, look at what you already have, and agree on one clear result. You then get a fixed price in writing before any build starts.
In week 2 you usually see a first working version: a first written list of findings for your domain, email, backups and access. It is real and usable, not a slide or a mockup, so you can judge it on your own work.
After that we run it and teach your team to use it. When something breaks or needs changing, a person answers. Your data stays yours, and you can export it whenever you want.
Who it suits and who it does not
It suits small businesses with no IT person who want to know where their weak spots are, especially those holding customer, patient or student data.
It is the wrong choice if you need a formal security certificate or an audit for a regulator. Berri does not issue certifications. For that, you need an accredited auditor.
It is also not legal advice. If you need to know exactly what a data protection law requires of you, speak to a lawyer.
Common questions
What does a security checkup for a small business include?
Berri's security checkup looks at four things: your website domain, your business email, your backups, and who has access to your systems and files. You get a plain list of what is at risk, ranked by what to fix first, with clear steps. It is currently offered as a trial.
How do I know who has access to my business email and files?
Start by listing every account, shared drive and system, and checking which people and devices can sign in to each. Former staff and old shared passwords are the most common gaps. Berri's security checkup does this review for you and gives you a plain list of who to remove or change.
Do small businesses in India need to follow data protection rules?
Most businesses that handle people's personal data will have duties under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. According to a summary on Mondaq, the rules were notified in November 2025 and most duties apply from about May 2027. Berri can check basics like access and backups, but for legal advice, speak to a lawyer.
How often should a small business back up its data?
It depends on how much work you could afford to lose. If losing one day of orders would hurt, back up daily. Just as important is checking that a backup can actually be restored, and keeping a copy away from the main computer. Berri's security checkup reviews both.
Can Berri give my business a security certificate?
No. Berri does not issue security certifications or formal audit reports. Our checkup is a practical review that finds common gaps and tells you how to fix them. If a customer or regulator needs a formal certificate, you will need an accredited auditor, and our findings can help you prepare.
