Software for retail chains and supermarkets
In short
Berri is a new technology company in India that builds software for retail chains and supermarkets. It can turn the billing data from every store into one morning view of sales, slow items and stock running low, and it can build an online shop or WhatsApp ordering line. It works alongside your existing billing software.
What breaks every day
Every store closes the day on its own billing machine. The owner sees the full picture only when someone collects the figures from each branch, often a day or two late.
Fast items run out on the shelf while slow ones sit in the back room until they near expiry. Reorders depend on the store manager remembering, and transfers between branches are arranged over phone calls.
Regular customers want to order on WhatsApp or online, but the orders land on a personal phone, get written on paper and are packed when someone finds time. Offers printed in the newspaper never reach the people who already shop with you.
What a first version could do in two weeks
A first version could be a morning report on WhatsApp: yesterday's sales for each store, items that sold out, items with no movement for weeks, and products close to expiry.
Alongside it, a simple online shop or WhatsApp ordering line for one store, with orders arriving in one list the packing staff can work through. Later, a forecast of what each store may need next week, offered as a trial on your own sales history.
This is a proposal, not a promise. What we can pull depends on how your billing software exports data, and we will confirm that in the first week.
How Berri works with you
In week 1 we visit a store, sit with the person who closes the day and the person who places orders with suppliers, and give you a fixed price in writing.
Usually in week 2 the first version runs on real data from your stores. After that we keep it running, adjust what is shown as you use it, and teach your managers to read and act on it.
Who it is not for
If you need a new billing or point of sale system, buy one from a billing vendor. Berri works with the one you have.
If you want a large marketplace app with delivery partners across a city, that is a different kind of business, and a platform built for it will suit you better.
Common questions
How can I see sales from all my stores in one place every morning?
Each store's billing software usually exports daily sales. A report can collect these exports, combine them and send you one summary before the stores open, showing sales by store, by category and against last week. Berri builds these from the billing data you already have. We check in week 1 whether your software can export automatically or needs a small daily step.
How do I know which items are about to run out in my supermarket?
Compare what has sold recently with what is still in stock for each item and store. A daily list of items likely to run out in the next few days, and items that have not sold at all, lets managers reorder or move stock between branches in time. Berri can build this list from your billing and stock records. Forecasting is offered as a trial.
Can my grocery store take orders on WhatsApp without mixing them up?
Yes. A WhatsApp assistant can take an order, confirm the items and put it into one list for the packing staff, instead of messages scattered across personal phones. Berri builds WhatsApp assistants and runs one in daily use inside a working business. You decide what the assistant can answer and when a person steps in.
Do I need a website or an online shop for my retail chain?
It depends on whether your customers already ask to order from home. A simple shop for one or two stores is a sensible test before building anything larger. Berri builds and hosts websites and shops, keeps them updated, and connects orders to your existing stock list where possible, so you are not maintaining two catalogues by hand.
Will this work with my existing billing software?
In most cases, yes, through the exports your billing software already produces. Berri does not replace your billing system. It reads from it and builds the reports and alerts it does not give you. Your data stays yours and can be exported at any time. If a vendor blocks exports, we will tell you in the first week.
